A global competition has been announced with prizes totalling $250,000 for applying AI and machine-learning methods to deciphering the Herculaneum papyri. The competition builds on the spectacular progress made by Brent Seales at the University of Kentucky. Two trustees of the Herculaneum Society, Bob Fowler and Gianluca del Mastro, are on the jury.
