Ancient scrolls normally had titles at both beginning and end. This end-title, in the very middle of the papyrus, reads &#8216;Philodemus On Vices Book 1&#8217; (though just possibly Book 4). This is the first time a title has been found using X-ray CT tomography, the amazing technique being developed to read the Herculaneum papyri without physical intervention.
